Infrastructure & Crawlability
Investigate technical issues before choosing a fix.
Groviqo’s own crawler collects technical evidence during configured crawls. Connect status codes, canonicals, robots directives and page changes with search observations to investigate possible regressions. Crawl findings do not guarantee indexing, rankings or early detection.

Canonical investigation
Source evidence and risk assessment are required before recommending a change. This example does not establish a defect, approval or successful repair.
Website regression recovery requires a finding, prior-state comparison, a plan, required approval, supported execution, verification and measurement. Retrying a failed crawl job is not website recovery. Post-write verification depends on the workflow and provider; it does not guarantee rankings or the absence of regressions.
How the capability works
1. Configured Crawling & Optional Browser Rendering
HTTP crawling inspects retrieved HTML. When a supported browser renderer is configured and needed, it can inspect the rendered DOM and compare links, headings and metadata. Failed or unavailable rendering is recorded explicitly; reached pages and crawl limits determine coverage.
- Compare retrieved and rendered text when browser rendering is available
- Configured user-agent profiles support access checks without claiming identical search-engine behavior
- Inspects HTTP headers: X-Robots-Tag, Cache-Control, Content-Type, and security headers
- Rendering failures and missing observations remain visible for investigation
Technical evidence connected to search changes
The technical investigation covers HTTP status, redirects, redirect chains, canonical URLs, canonical conflicts, robots, noindex, sitemap presence, sitemap consistency, crawlability, indexability, titles, descriptions, headings, structured data, internal links, external links, hreflang, language, metadata, page structure, duplicate pages and technical errors. Coverage depends on the pages reached, crawl limits and available rendering; unavailable observations remain unavailable.
- Example: Google Search Console shows a ranking decline, while a crawl records a canonical change three days earlier. Investigate a possible technical regression; timing alone does not establish causation. Preserve source, page, observation time and comparison window, then re-crawl after an approved supported change and measure fresh search observations.
2. Crawl Recovery & Indexation Investigation
Investigate recoverable problems: an important URL unexpectedly noindexed, a canonical pointing elsewhere, broken internal links, redirect problems, a disappeared page, sitemap inconsistency, robots conflicts and technical metadata regressions. A supported recovery workflow detects the issue, investigates its cause, determines risk, recommends a fix, obtains approval if required, executes through a supported connection, crawls again, verifies the result and measures recovery. Unsupported changes remain recommendations; unavailable measurements do not become success claims.
- Canonical loop and chain detection: identifies tags pointing to redirected or dead URLs
- Sitemap vs Canonical mismatch alerts: ensures URLs in sitemap.xml have 1-to-1 canonical parity
- Accidental `noindex` detection when a configured crawl observes an unexpected indexability change
- Pagination and faceted navigation audit: ensures query parameters do not waste crawl budget
3. Bilingual Hreflang & RTL Architecture
Multilingual sites require flawless reciprocal hreflang annotations. Missing return tags or incorrect language-region codes lead Google to serve English pages to Israeli searchers or vice versa. Groviqo verifies full bidirectional reciprocity across your `/en/` and `/he/` URL pairs.
- Bidirectional reciprocity audit: ensures every `/he/` page points to `/en/` and vice versa
- `x-default` fallback verification for international visitors outside primary regions
- RTL document direction and layout stability: checks for layout shifts caused by BiDi font loading
Practical tooling for end-to-end execution
Headless DOM Scanner
Crawls client-rendered Single Page Applications and SSR sites using headless Chromium instances.
Canonical Chain Detector
Inspects every URL to ensure canonical tags resolve cleanly to 200 OK targets with zero loops.
Bilingual Hreflang Validator
Verifies that Hebrew and English versions reciprocate properly to prevent cross-language cannibalization.
Traditional approach vs Groviqo
| Dimension / Capability | Occasional Manual Screaming Frog Runs | Groviqo Technical Governance |
|---|---|---|
| Monitoring Frequency | Audits run once a month or after a traffic collapse has already occurred | Scheduled and post-change crawling that can catch canonical, status-code and noindex issues |
| JavaScript SPAs | Basic scrapers miss client-rendered links, hydration issues, and dynamic metadata | Headless Chromium rendering the live DOM for browser-level inspection; this is complementary to, not identical with, Googlebot behavior |
Frequently asked implementation questions
Will Groviqo’s crawler slow down my production server?
Crawls use configured limits and robots policies. Server impact depends on page complexity, timing and crawl configuration; monitor load and adjust limits rather than assuming zero impact.
